ADULT MINISTRIES

Sunday School

We have Bible-based Sunday School classes for all ages every Sunday beginning at 9:20 a.m. Since before the American Civil War, there has been an organized Sunday School at Burry’s Church. The purpose of our Sunday School ministry is to lead children, young people, and adults to know, appreciate, and use the Bible as the Word of God. Special activities include monthly “song services” followed by Fellowship with refreshments, an annual Strawberry Festival, a summer picnic, and Christmas caroling for our Golden-agers and shut-ins.

Rooted

A time for 18-30 year olds to worship, learn, and fellowship together. We meet on Fridays at 7 pm.

GriefShare

Are you grieving the loss of a loved one? Are you wondering if what you are experiencing is normal? You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. GriefShare is a special weekly seminar/support group for people grieving the death of someone close. It’s a place where you can be around people who understand how you feel and the pain of your loss. GriefShare is a video seminar that features some of the nation’s foremost Christian experts on grief and recovery as seen from a biblical perspective. Even if it has been a while since you lost someone close, this seminar is designed to give you the tools to help you find peace.

Christian Caregivers

Christian Caregivers is a group that seeks to encourage members residing in care centers and those who cannot attend church. Each week, members of Christian Caregivers send church bulletins with hand-written notes to each of our at-home members. They also meet the first and third Wednesday of each of month at 9:00 a.m. to send cards of encouragement, prayer, and sympathy to those in need. They also spend time praying for those in need.

Quilting Group

Burry’s Quilters usually meet twice a month and start off each meeting with devotions and prayer requests.  Then we work on projects together or individually.  It is “sew” much fun to share our finished projects with each other.

There are not a lot of us, but we are not only sharing our love for quilting, but we are becoming close friends.  If any of us has a prayer need or a reason to praise God, we can expect a text to share the news with each other.

Each year we have a Christmas in July event and several work nights to complete Christmas Stockings that are donated to Yellow Ribbon Girls.  We also hand quilt a quilt that is donated to Faith Circle’s silent auction.  This year the quilt was extra special because the material was given to the church from a retired missionary, Ans Westerveld.  We also had a night that we invited everyone to come and learn how to make a Christmas ornament.

We are definitely not experts, but a group that wants to learn from each other and encourage each other both in quilting and life.

Faith Circle

Faith Circle is a group of ladies that can best be described as the “worker bees” of the church.  Our ladies have official meetings, social outings and service projects. They encourage all ladies in the church, no matter the age, to join Faith Circle. Their scheduled meetings for 2022 are:

 February 15, March 15, May 17, September 20, October 18, November 15, and December 13 (Christmas Party).
